The 11th G20 Summit (hereinafter referred to as the "G20 Summit") will be held in Hangzhou in early September. It is reported that the countries involved in the G20 Summit account for about 90% of the global GDP, more than 80% of global trade, and approximately two-thirds of the world's population. The importance and influence of the G20 Summit are self-evident. At the same time, holding the G20 Summit in China will also become an important opportunity for China to showcase its global leadership to the world.
To ensure the smooth holding of the G20 Summit, all industries are actively making efforts. Among them, as an important part of the security work, environmental air quality is of the utmost importance. Regarding the protection of environmental air quality, the industrial manufacturing sector takes the lead, and for this reason, the cement industry is also taking active measures:
● Cement companies in Jiaxing, Huzhou, Hangzhou, Ningbo, Shaoxing, Jinhua, Quzhou, and other areas of Zhejiang Province have received relevant instructions to stop production before August 24 and resume kiln and grinding production after September 7, with a guarantee period of 15 days.
● Cement enterprises in Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province have completely stopped production; key air pollutant-emitting enterprises in Suzhou, Wuxi, and Changzhou have reduced emissions of sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, smoke, dust, and volatile organic compounds by more than 50%; key air pollutant-emitting enterprises in Taizhou, Yangzhou, and Zhenjiang have reduced emissions of sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, smoke, dust, and volatile organic compounds by more than 20%.
● From August 20 to September 10, cement companies in Tongling City, Anhui Province will reduce production by 50%; cement companies in Wuhu City will reduce emissions of sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, smoke, and volatile organic compounds by 40%; cement companies in Xuancheng City will reduce production by 30%.
● Cement companies and mixing stations in Jingdezhen City, Jiangxi Province are restricted to 50% production, and grinding stations are completely shut down; key air pollutant-emitting enterprises in Shangrao City are to reduce emissions of sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, smoke, dust, and volatile organic compounds by more than 50% against annual control targets.
According to the regional protection requirements outlined in the "G20 Summit Construction System Environmental Quality Assurance Work Plan" issued by the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, core, strict control, and regulated zones are delineated around Hangzhou with reference radii of 50 km, 100 km, and 300 km respectively. The suspension of operations for environmental quality assurance for industrial enterprises such as cement mainly focuses on 11 cities, including Hangzhou, Jiaxing, Ningbo, and Huzhou. However, due to the regional transmission characteristics of air pollution, the cement industry in provinces surrounding Zhejiang has also launched an environmental protection campaign, actively safeguarding the environment for the G20 Summit.
According to estimates, cement enterprises within 300 kilometers of Hangzhou are mainly distributed in Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Anhui, Jiangxi, and Shanghai. The cement production capacity affected in these 'four provinces and one city' accounts for more than 50% of the total regional capacity, with Zhejiang, as the core area, set to completely halt production. Moreover, in addition to the aforementioned 'four provinces and one city,' recently, provinces such as Shandong and Henan have also successively implemented production restrictions for the G20 Summit, contributing to air quality protection efforts for the summit.
Boosting the 'West Lake Blue' and adding a touch of blue to the sky... The cement industry is actively responding to the government's call, earnestly implementing work to ensure ambient air quality, working hand in hand, and with a high sense of industry responsibility, escorting the G20 Summit.
